Swell, Sequoia Style

I mentioned that after I saw Melissa LaBarre’s Swell Cowl, I cast on one for myself in Spud & Chloë Outer, Sequoia (7205).

My finished Swell in Sequoia.

I think my red Swell Cowl is totally appropriate for the lovey month of February.

This only took me about three days to knit during the work week, so if you are looking for some fun knitting this weekend, I would strongly recommend this project. You could start today and have a new knit piece to wear on Monday.

Outer is a good choice for this project because of its excellent stitch definition.

The Swell Cowl is just what I needed. Something squishy and cuddly to ride out the rest of winter.

Happy Weekend Pals.

We Think You’re Swell

CHLOE:  Spud, that’s not how you wear it!

SPUD:  What is “it”?

CHLOE:  a Cowl

SPUD:  a Howl?

CHLOE:  a C-O-W-L. Like a scarf only knit in a loop.

SPUD:  Cowl – Shmowl…ZZZZZ

Well, Spud & Chloë Pals, do we have a treat for you. The Swell Cowl, a pattern by Melissa LaBarre is worked in three hanks of Spud & Chloë Outer. The sample shown uses Wave (7217) and is a nice bright pop of color in February.

A quick and speedy knit, just in time for the end of winter.

It’s always nice to have a new, cuddly knit right at the end of dreary winter.

You can download the free Swell Cowl, right here

Wave 7217 is such a beautiful blue.

Melissa is a talented designer that the whole gang admires a great deal. In fact, we think she’s really interesting and have a lot more Melissa fun in store for you soon! I have this cowl on the needles in Sequoia (7205). I felt a tug to do a red project in February, I’ll have pictures soon. The stitch pattern is fun and easy to memorize. The Swell Cowl is a nice project to come home to after a day at work. Just me, the squishy, soft Spud & Chloë Outer on my needles and a movie. To be perfectly honest, a cup of tea and a cat in my lap too. Life is good.

Have a Swell day my Spud & Chloë Pals.

And don’t forget to download your copy of the Swell Cowl.

Springtime and the Livin’ is Easy

Hi Spud & Chloë Pals!

Did you know that there are only 34 days until the official start of Spring? It is easy to notice this change happening around you. The whole Gang has noticed, we arrive home at night before it is completely dark, the sun just about to set. The sunshine makes us wish for bright colors, lightweight fabrics and warm breezes. A sweet warmth to sit outside and knit in. And what project would be more delightful for Springtime than the Easy Tee?

The Easy Tee knit in Spud & Chloë Fine Dolphin 7821

The Easy Tee, designed by Amy Miller is just right for Spring for so many reasons. The bright palette of Spud & Chloë Fine has over twenty colors to choose from. The smooth fabric it produces will be wearable all Summer long because Fine is a blend of superwash wool and silk. And just like Spring, when the livin’ should be easy, the knitting is too! The Easy Tee is knit in one piece and it only takes two simple seams to have your very own. This piece is so straightforward that is begs to be a canvas for customization. How about knitting the Tee in Snorkel (7809) with thin stripes of Popcorn (7800) a nautical and fresh look! How will you make your Easy Tee personalized?

7 Days and Counting

Are you ready? There are seven days left until Valentine’s Day.

If you are looking for a quick project to make just in time for a special loved one, be sure to remember Susan’s lovey-inspired free pattern: Heart on a String.

Don't forget, this hat is knit with Spud & Chloë Sweater yarn doubled. Super speedy.

Since Susan originally designed this piece, Spud & Chloë has added many colors to the collection.

What fun to create a handmade hat for your Valentine in their favorite colors. That way, regardless of the day, that special person will know they are loved.

Spud & Chloë Sweater, 55% superwash wool and 45% organic cotton, here are a few colorways we put together (left to right) Jelly Bean (7513) and Popsicle (7501) ultra pink and ultra girlie. Igloo (7517) and Barn (7818) traditional Valentine’s Day. Grape Jelly (7516) and Lilac (7523) feminine with a twist. Grass (7502) and Turtle (7514) perfect for everyone.

What colors will you put together to make February 14th special?

A Leaf for All Seasons

Well Spud & Chloë Pals, it has been a few weeks since we released our Spring 2012 Collection. Have you had the opportunity to peruse the catalog? I love the moment when the precise page is turned that elicits coos of delight.

We adore how this leaf envelops a wee little person.

The Leaf Blanket, designed by Susie Anderson has put the cuteness quotient through the roof! Knit in Spud & Chloë Outer on size 15 needles with just four hanks, this project is sure to be a quick-knit. Quick and adorable; pleasing to new Moms and Dads while enchanting Grandmas and Grandpas.

This is certainly a playful twist, not just another baby blanket. A homemade gift that will be treasured.

The perfect baby shower gift, I would bring a Hedge (7210) Leaf Blanket for spring time, Cedar (7209) for autumn and Snow Day (7216) for winter babies.

Time to start one today! It would be so great to be all ready the next time a friend or family member is expecting. Now, which color to choose…
