A Winter Treat

November 12, 2010

Hi Spud & Chloë Friends,

I happily discovered that Blue Sky Alpacas Melange made the cover of the new winter edition of the online knitting magazine, Knitcircus. I love this sweater called, Sweet Cicely. Melange is an incredibly gorgeous yarn.

The sleeve details are subtle and add the nicest touch. The sweater is designed by, Stephannie Tallent. The pattern is for purchase in pdf format in the Knitcircus Winter Issue 2010. You can purchase individual patterns, the entire issue or you can subscribe to the magazine. There are lots of options which is a bonus.

The Little Miriam is an adorable girls sweater in Spud & Chloë Outer.  The sweater is designed by, Talitha Kuomi. I especially love the idea of a little girls sweater in Outer. The squish factor of Outer is hard to beat.

The pattern is sized for 2T up through size 12 so there is a great size range. I love the cabling detail at the waist and how it cinches it in, very clever. The same detail is used on the forearm of the sleeve. It is simple and elegant.

This would knit up so quickly! There would be no problem getting a Little Miriam or two whipped up in time for the holidays. Every girl should have a sweater like Little Miriam. I want one, too.

I hope you all will jump over to Knitcircus and check out all they have to offer like articles, reviews, patterns, recipes and more. It is a fun online magazine that is rapidly growing in popularity and it is well-deserved. Knitcircus is beautifully crafted and a pleasure to read and knit.

Thanks to Knitcircus for using and featuring our yarns in the issue.

On a sidenote, check out Craig’s recommendations for knitting men and boys hats on Loop’s blog. He is the perfect person to make these recommendations because he is a man so he knows what men would wear and he is an excellent and knowledgeable knitter and shop owner.  Click here to see the post! Two of his five hat recommendations are made with our yarns. One is the Skinny Striped Hat made in Blue Sky Skinny Cotton (one of my faves). The other is the new free pattern for Spud says!, the Go Team! hat. I agree with Craig’s comment on men and boys and the earflaps, they LOVE them. Also, don’t forget the Men’s Beanie made in Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Cotton. Craig didn’t mention that pattern but it is a winner for men, too.

Hope you all had a wonderful week. Off into the weekend we go!
