Dream Catcher Hat – Free Pattern!

Hi Spud & Chloë Friends,

I’ve got the pattern for the Dream Catcher Hat ready for you. Remember that this hat is intended to use up some of the left over yarn from the Dream Catcher Baby Blanket. Both the hat and blanket together will be a spectacular baby gift. If you’d like to knit the hat in only one color of Sweater one skein will be plenty. You could use up your odds and ends from other Spud & Chloë Sweater projects as well.

Here is some information you might like to know:

Size: 0-6 months (6-12 months)

Note: The stitch pattern used in the hat is repeated over 4 stitches. The size of the hat can be made larger by adding stitches in increments of 4 stitches. Additional length will be needed when making the hat larger.

Yarn: Spud & Chloë Sweater (55% superwash wool, 45% organic cotton; 100 grams/160 yards), 1 skein each in Pollen #7508, Grass #7502, Splash #7510, Firefly #7505 and Watermelon #7512

Note about yarn requirements: This hat was designed to use up some of the leftover yarn from the Dream Catcher Baby Blanket. Only a small amount of each color is needed.

Needles: US size 7 sixteen-inch circular needles or the size needed to obtain the gauge

Additional needle for the 3-needle bind off is needed. I used and suggest US size 7 twenty four-inch circular needles for the 3-needle bind off.

Gauge: 5 stitches per inch

The double pom-pom style hat is one of my favorite hats. I always love the two corners sticking up on little ones. It is a winner every time.

Have fun, Knitters!

Dream Catcher Hat – preview

Hi Spud & Chloë Friends,

I made this hat with the remaining yarn from the Dream Catcher Baby Blanket. It is sweet and fast.

By the way, I’m sorry to say I don’t know where the hat stand comes from. It was special ordered from a shop that doesn’t exist any longer and it doesn’t have a tag or name on it. I get asked about this every time I put a photo up of the hat stand.

The hat is knit in the round using the Harris Tweed Stitch pattern from the first square I made. For the top seam I used a three-needle bind off. This is a great technique that is simple and creates a clean and easy seam. I have illustrated step by step instructions on this technique in Itty-Bitty Hats if you don’t know how to do it.

I’ll be back soon with the Dream Catcher Hat pattern for you. Until then…

Andrea Hearts Spud & Chloë

Hi Spud & Chloë Friends,

A few weeks ago I asked you all what you were knitting with Spud & Chloë yarns. I heard from a lot of knitters and I’ve pointed out a few but Andrea Hungerford pretty much takes the cake! Her blog is called, On Blueberry Hill and you can find out more of her project details over there. I want to share a few of her Spud & Chloë projects with you today. Above she used 6 skeins of Outer in the Soapstone colorway to whip up this gorgeous baby blanket.

Andrea used our Jelly Bean Sweater yarn to make the Tea Party Cardi. I want to make one of these for myself someday. I love it.

Above Andrea used Sweater to knit the little sweater called, Chloe. It’s so sweet.

She also knitted the medium version of the Three Brrrr Bears in Sweater yarn. What a great job, Andrea.

Here Andrea knitted up a set that includes a scarf, fingerless mitts, and the Flap Happy Hat. It looks like she took the waffle stitch used in the hat and transferred it into the other items. These are all shades of Sweater and this is the original colorway I knitted the sample in. There is a photo of my original hat on the pattern page on our site. Love it!

Patriotic baby socks? You bet! Andrea used up bits and pieces of her leftover Spud & Chloë Sweater yarn to whip up a bunch of Jelly Bean Baby Socks.

After sharing all of these fantastic projects this is Andrea’s final note in her email:

I’ve knit many more Spud & Chloë projects, including the track jacket, lovey dovey top, playground
hoodie, and lots from Itty Bitty Toys – all on my blog:

Keep it up with the wonderful feeling yarn, wonderful colors, and
wonderful patterns – I can’t wait to knit more Spud & Chloe!

Sincerely,
Andrea Hungerford

Well, thank you, Andrea, for taking the time to share with me so I can share your knitting with all of the readers here. That is some good, good knitting and I can tell that you are having fun.

In the meantime, I finished an adorable little baby hat using up some of the leftovers from the Dream Catcher Baby Blanket. I’ll be back shortly to share this fun pattern with you.

New Colors!

Hi Spud & Chloë Friends,

I want to give you a tiny sneak peek at a few of the new and exciting colorways for the Spud & Chloë yarns today. As always, much thought and consideration goes into each and every color for our yarn line. We had a couple of threads running on Ravelry about colors people would like to see added to the line. There were discussions and test runs conducted. Anyway, all of this boils down to these new colors:

In the Fine, we’re introducing 7814 Shitake and 7815 Red Hot!

In the Outer, there’s 7210 Hedge, 7211 Rocket, and 7212 Sandbox!

In the Sweater, we’ve added 7515 Cider and 7516 Grape Jelly!

All of the new colors will be available in June 2010 so keep your eyes peeled. To go along with the color additions we are adding lots of new and fun patterns for Spud & Chloë as well. The big kick-off is at TNNA in Columbus, Ohio, so if you are attending please be sure to stop by to check everything out. If you aren’t attending TNNA, no worries, I will keep you updated right here on Spud says!

I’ll be sharing more previews on the yarn and the patterns coming up soon. Plus, we are quickly coming up on our first year anniversary which is hard to believe. We have some fun things cooking to help us celebrate. It has been an amazing year, better than we could have imagined.

The best part is that we have only just begun.
