I am back with this fantastically quick and fun Modern Rib Hat for you! Get those needles roaring by the fire and whip up one for everyone you know. Don’t forget that this warm, squishy hat can be worn four different ways. Click here to see how you can style this hat.
Here is some information you might like to know:
Size: baby (toddler, small child, large child/teen/adult)
Finished hat to fit head circumference in inches as follows: 13-15 inches (16-18 inches, 18-20 inches, 20-22 inches)
Yarn: Spud & Chloë Sweater (55% superwash wool, 45% organic cotton; 100 grams/160 yards), 1 skein for smallest two sizes, 2 skeins for the two largest sizes in Firefly #7505
Needles: US size 7 needles, sixteen-inch circular and a set of 4 double-pointed needles OR size to obtain gauge
Gauge: 5 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch

The pattern is written for the single color hat but I included the information for the striped version in the photo above and below. The striped version of the Modern Rib Hat is knitted in the largest size. I just completed it this morning and it looks great. Here is the yarn information for the striped version, you will need one skein of each in Spud & Chloë Sweater:
Popsicle #7501, Chipmunk #7511, Splash #7510, Pollen #7508, Watermelon #7512, Grass #7502, Moonlight #7507
As always, you could use any of the Sweater colors or combination of Sweater colors to come up with your own beautiful hat!

I’ve been waiting for this since I saw the pix the other day! I’m ordering my yarn right now. This year, hats for everyone!
Thanks for the pattern! I have an elephant and a hippo to knit by Christmas, so if I need a break on bigger needles, I can do some basic ribbing and have a gift for the charity basket. I finally got my “Itty Bitty Toys” book, and I love it. Next summer my first grand nephew or niece will be born, and I’m eyeing the ducks! Or maybe the frog/turtle reversible. Or the sleepy puppies. Hi. I love this pattern. I am going to knit up a white one for my daughter’s smurf costume. I’m trying to download the pattern, but it won’t work. I’ve tried on three different computers now. I see that a few others had problems. Do you have any tips? Thanks.
