Yep, that's me, only, since my grandmother didn't knit I must be channeling someone's nana! I drape the yarn over my left middle finger and sometimes I move the left hand needle to do all the picking so my right hand gets a bit of a rest. This is such a speedy way to knit!

lol - so far, it looks like we all have(had) the same wonderful grandmother :) I knit exactly like you, Susan. I'm left-handed, so it leads me to believe my Grandmother was also left-handed. Maybe not, maybe that's how she was taught.

I've also discovered that the way you knit, Susan, is also called "German" or "Continental" knitting. All the knitting jargon can get confusing, esp. when one is using acronyms :)

Keep up the EXCELLENT work, Susan - we love you!

That is the Continental method and you do it in a pretty typical way. May I suggest you put something light under your hands/get the camera closer. Those three reflected lights on the table are quite distracting. There are many pros as cons for any style of knitting.

An excellent website for all sorts of help to knitters who use either the Continental or the No.Am/English Style is www.knittinghelp.com of particular help is the "decrease" and "increase" page where there is a fabulous visual as well as videos.

Keep up the good work.

Did we have the same grandmother? I hold my yarn and pick it through exactly as you do. When I crochet I pretty much do the same yarn hold in the left hand and motion with my right hand holding the hook.

I am a big fan of "do what works", so I would never tell someone who throws the yarn to change, if that is what works for them, but I never understood all that extra motion when knitting.
